Winning grants for your arts organization is tough enough when you’re competing against every other cash-strapped nonprofit out there. But it can be especially daunting when you live in a far-flung area of the state — where it might be easier to feel isolated from the rest of the larger arts community.

Good news: Not only does Colorado Creative Industries want to teach you how to apply for one of its grants, it’s going out of its way to cover Colorado, not just along the Front Range but in places like Grand Junction, Greeley, Carbondale, Hayden and Salida.

For fiscal 2011-2012, (a division of the state Office of Economic Development) awarded 132 grants totaling $908,500 and reaching 32 counties across the state. Grants ranged from $4,000 to $10,000 and have been used for either general operating support or specific projects.

From Wednesday, April 25 through May 18, the agency will hold a dozen sessions across the state to provide training and spread information about how to apply for these much-needed funds.

Guidelines for the 2012-2013 Colorado Creates grant program are available on the CCI website, along with the link to the online grant system. The grant deadline is June 21, 2012.
